Foynes

A busy fishing and commercial port on the estuary of the Shannon River, Foynes became a terminus for the transatlantic flying boat services of the 1930's and Irish coffee was invented here to warm these passengers. Foynes is a great location for exploring the surrounding region. Our tour to Limerick City and King John's Castle looks at the area's turbulent history, while a tour to The Cliffs of Moher will take in the beautiful scenery of County Clare.

Limerick City and King John's Castle - A tour to the city of Limerick, first settled by the Vikings and developed as a stronghold by the Normans and English. Our visit tours the 13th Century King John's Castle as well as time to explore the Georgian streets of the Englishtown and Irishtown districts. Half Day.

The Cliffs of Moher - Crosses the Shannon River to take in a panorama of scenic County Clare including the spectacular 660 foot high Cliffs of Moher. Full Day.

Bunratty Folk Park & Castle - From Foynes, this tour visits the Bunratty Folk Park a restored 19th Century village where traditional jobs and crafts are recreated by costumed characters have been developed around the fortifications of Bunratty Castle, originally dating from the 15th Century. Half Day.
