Crarae Gardens & Inveraray Castle (half day)Crarae Gardens is a unique wooded area garden. Plants here have been sourced as far a field as China, Tibet, Burma and Tasmania. Easy paths and Trails network the garden with beautiful views over Loch Fyne. Back in the coach and along to Inveraray Castle - home of the Duke and Duchess of Argyll, and Chief of the Clan Campbell. The Neo-Gothic Castle built in the 18th century is one of the great bastions of Scotland's National Heritage and is amongst the earliest examples of gothic revival in Britain. Its fairytale exterior belies the grandeur of its gracious interior which reflects many fascinating tastes of the Argyll family through the years. The armory contains 1300 pieces of swords and other equipment and the Castle has a superb collection of fine French 18th century furniture and English and continental china as well as many family artifacts. <<Back |
