Glamis Castle (half day)
Travelling inland through the delightful region of Angus to the famous Glamis Castle, known for its literary connection with Shakespeare's Macbeth. The Castle is late 17th century, and contains fragments of much earlier times and is thought to have been a Royal residence since the 11th century. Said to be one of the most haunted buildings in Scotland, a visit through the Castle and adjacent 19th Century Cottages is certainly atmospheric. It is the ancestral home of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, and birthplace of H.R.H. the Princess Margaret. The Castle is of particular significance in Scottish history and contains a fine collection of armour, furnishings, paintings, china and tapestries. <<Back |
