Inveraray Castle

Inveraray Castle

A stop in the extravagant Inveraray Castle. home to the Duke and Dutchess of Argyll, Chief of the Clan Campbell. The current building was built in 1745 by the third duke, and updated in the 19th century with conical towers and dormer windows that give it a feeling of a French Chateau. Inside the most startling feature is the Armory Hall, with displays of weaponry rise through several storeys. After visiting the Castle, a short trip into Inveraray, a beautiful little white washed village perched on the banks of Loch Fyne. Time to simply browse through the streets and shops in this small but very picturesque little town before returning to the ship.
